Hi, my name is Annabel and I created this website as a way of presenting a unit I studied during the first year level 3 BTEC extended diploma in Medical Science. Unit 11: Physiology of Human Body Systems covers the basic physiological concepts of the digestive, cardiovascular, respiratory and lymphatic systems in a way which encapsulates the importance of the differentiation and specialisation of cells, tissues and organ systems. On this website somewhere you will find:
- annotated diagrams of the main organs within each organ system
- a scientific write-up of a practical invetsigation relevant to each organ system apart from the lymphatic system
- the biochemistry of digestion
- a slightly confusing outline of the cardiac cycle
- a basic explanation of the immune response
- an introduction to the cytology of certain tissues and organs
- an introduction to how all the systems work together - particularly on the cardiovascular system page
Each page on this website has been dedicated to an assignment handed to me by my biology tutor. For those who are not aware of the BTEC specifications the marking criteria is split into 3 grade margins: pass, merit and distinction; the distinction grade being the highest grade achievable and the grade this submission was allocated. Each of the slides below shows the evidence of completion for each assignment. For the full assignment briefs please click the "FULL ASSIGNMENT BRIEFS FOR THIS UNIT" button at the top of the page and you can download a word document of them all. I have tried my best to reference all images and information taken from external sources but please email [email protected] if anything about this website upsets you in any way; especially if you feel any of the infomation is incorrect.
Thank you
